Position Description

Assistant Professor, Photography and New Media - Tenure Track

Department of Art

The Department of Art at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Photography and New Media, with an emphasis on Video. 

Qualifications should include a completed MFA, demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, a strong exhibition record in photography and new media, fluency with traditional and digital photography and digital video, and expertise in the conceptual/theoretical concerns of contemporary new media art.  The successful candidate will help develop new offerings in photography and video, and will teach courses that are cross-listed with other departments and programs.  Responsibilities include: teaching five courses per year; supervision of an 18 station computer lab and a traditional darkroom; advising; service on department and institutional committees.
