Position DescriptionAssistant Professor - Tenure TrackDepartment of Religious StudiesThe Department of Religious Studies seeks a teacher/scholar of History of Religions/Comparative Religions with a specialty in Asian religions. Ph.D. preferred AbD considered. While this is a tenure track position in Religious Studies, the candidate will work closely with the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures. Ability to teach courses in Hinduism and Buddhism and the ability to develop thematic comparative courses is required. Competence in ritual studies and other Asian traditions is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to teach introductory through advanced courses in Religious Studies and to collaborate with the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures in developing courses as well. A commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and in a small liberal arts setting is a must. Ability to contribute to the interdisciplinary strengths of the Colleges (eg. First Year Seminars or in programs such as Women’s Studies, Environmental Studies, Architectural Studies, Peace Studies) is also desired.
