Position Description
Assistant Professor - Tenure Track
Department of Religious Studies
The Department of Religious Studies seeks a teacher/scholar for a tenure track position in Comparative Theology and Philosophy of Religion.
Ph.D. preferred, AbD considered. Formal training in Comparative Theology or the Philosophy of Religion and the ability to teach comparative courses on topics such as religious language, hermeneutics or religious ethics is required. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with at least one religion outside of the Abrahamic traditions. The successful candidate is expected to teach and develop an introductory course in Religious Studies as well as advanced courses. A commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and in a small liberal arts setting is a must. Ability to contribute to the interdisciplinary strengths of the Colleges (e.g., Women’s Studies, Environmental Studies, area studies and/or to the general curriculum) is desired.
