Position Description

Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at Hobart and William Smith Colleges is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2008 whose areas of specialty are Epistemology and Feminist Philosophy. Areas of competence are open. Evidence of potential for excellent scholarship and dynamic teaching in a liberal arts setting is required, as is a firm grounding in the history of philosophy.

Preference will be given to candidates able to contribute to Women's Studies and one or more other interdisciplinary programs. Salary and benefits are competitive. Ph.D. prior to application preferred, but ABD considered. 3-2 teaching load and usual non-teaching duties. Salary and benefits are competitive.
