Position Description
Director of Capital Projects
Division of Finance
SUMMARY:
This position will play a key role in the design, planning, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and engineering of new capital projects. Working closely with the Vice President for Finance and the Director of Facilities and other constituencies on-campus, this position will oversee the cost-effective and timely delivery of all capital and construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design, planning, scheduling, estimating, bidding and engineering of capital projects.
- Oversee the cost-effective and timely delivery of capital and construction projects.
- Manage the various competing influences during the planning and throughout the construction and delivery phases of the capital project
- Working with external parties and consultants to add value for the on-campus client and the preparation of cost/benefit studies.
- Work with the City Planning Board and Historical Commission to get necessary approvals for projects.
- Work with Senior Staff, Department Directors and Board of Trustee Members to build consensus and get approval for capital projects.
- Develop project plans to include cost estimates, project timelines, milestones and deliverables, providing management with periodic status updates on all projects.
SUPERVISOR: Vice President for Finance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, planning, architecture, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five or more years of direct project experience, preferably in a higher education or not-for-profit environment.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is a full-time, 12-month benefits-eligible, administrative exempt position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours time period. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
